So... what is AWC anyway?

There are so many different clubs that you have the opportunity to get involved in on the OU campus. So why the Association for Women in Communications?

AWC offers such a multi-dimension platform of opportunities, and that's why we feel it's an outstanding thing to be a part of. This quarter we have a variety of ideas planned, such as internship workshops, resume building workshops, women's health days and even a self-defense class. AWC is great for social networking and tips on internships or jobs, things that we know will be vital tools for your future.

And okay, fine, it may seem lame that there are absolutely no guys... but it actually turns out to be a really nice escape. Especially because you truly do form bonds and friendships with really great girls who may not have otherwise met.

We also try to focus heavily on philanthropy. AWC does one, big philanthropic project each quarter. Fall 2009's philanthropic project has not yet been decided, but we're in the brainstorming process and we'd love any suggestions you may have!

In order to be a member of AWC just come to any of our meeting on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in Scripps 111. To remain an active member, you need to earn 10 "points" each quarter (attending a meeting counts as a point, as does attending any bake sale/philanthropic event/etc... it's really not that hard to get 10 points in a quarter).

If you have any additional questions please feel free to e-mail us at ohiouawc@gmail.com

We hope to hear from you, and we really hope you consider joining AWC. Trust us, you won't regret it!
